Strategic Management and Leadership Practice
Qualification Overview
The OTHM Level 8 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice is a predoctoral qualification (equivalent to the third cycle of the European Qualifications Framework) designed to develop high-level strategic management and leadership skills. It is intended for mature learners and managers who have the authority to translate organizational strategy into effective operational performance.
Course Objectives
The primary objective is to equip learners with the tools to become independent, self-directed leaders who can:
- Apply analytical and evaluative techniques to business in both private and public sectors.
- Formulate and use appropriate methodologies to initiate, design, and undertake research or strategic activities that produce significant change.
- Critically evaluate actions and methods, considering their long-term implications for their field of work.
- Progress toward a DBA, DProf, or PhD or into senior professional employment.
Qualification Structure
The program requires a total of 180 credits, representing 1,800 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 900 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).
Mandatory Units (Group A - 120 Credits)
Learners must complete all five mandatory units:
- Developing Strategic Management and Leadership Potential (20 credits)
- Managing Strategic Change (20 credits)
- Project Development, Planning and Management (20 credits)
- Advanced Research Design and Methodologies (40 credits)
- Developing Research Capability (20 credits)
Optional Units (Group B - 60 Credits)
Learners must choose three units from the following (20 credits each):
Entry Requirements
Applicants must typically hold a Master’s degree in a business-related subject and have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience at a senior management level.
